Mathematics
Mathematics is one of the key learning areas in the Junior School curriculum. All students are to be provided with experiences in mathematics on a regular basis across the five strands of; Working Mathematically, Number, Patterns and Algebra, Measurement and Data and Space and Geometry so that they:
- Appreciate Mathematics as an essential and relevant part of life
- Develop their ability to work mathematically
- Develop their knowledge, skills and understandings
At St Andrew's Cathedral School's Gawura campus our students:
- Are supported in developing positive attitudes towards mathematics and themselves as learners and users of Mathematics
- Are encouraged to use their mathematical knowledge and skills to investigate and solve problems
- Are encouraged to reflect on, verbalise and verify their problem solving experiences
- Explore and investigate mathematical ideas, situations and problems, often in creative ways
- Are given opportunities to develop a mathematical language, through talking and listening, reading and writing
- Are provided with opportunities for using a range of technology within Mathematics
