Funding for this unique learning opportunity for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island children comes from the heartfelt generosity of organisations and individuals, Commonwealth and State Government grants and modest fees paid by the Gawura families. Gawura commenced in April 2007 with seven children and now has 23 children enrolled from Kindergarten to Year 6. We celebrate not only the first year of Gawura, but the wonderful achievements of the students as they continue to grow more confident in areas of academic achievement, sport and the arts.
Financial support for Gawura from private means is the primary source of funding for Gawura. Donations have come from many areas, mainly foundations, organisations, families and individuals who wish to make a significant contribution to the education of Australian Indigenous children. The funds that are raised go directly to the education of the students of Gawura from Kindergarten to Year 12, as all children are anticipated to join St Andrew’s Secondary School after the completion of Year 6.
By making a donation to Gawura, you will join the many other Friends of Gawura who have supported the School to help to make it sustainable into the future.
The St Andrew’s Cathedral School Foundation Scholarship Fund for Gawura, has Deductible Gift Recipient status which allows all donations to the fund to be tax deductible.
No donation is too small, every donation is valued as a wonderful and much appreciated gesture of giving to the education of the students of Gawura.
Thank you for considering Gawura. Please contact the Fundraising Manager (Gawura), Lucy Crook or call 02 9286 9500 if you have any enquiries regarding donations.
