Linda Burney Visit
Recently the students welcomed Linda Burney to Gawura and were delighted that she could take time out of her extremely busy schedule to talk to the children.
Linda is a former teacher and currently the member for Canterbury in the NSW State Parliament. Linda is the First Aboriginal woman elected to the NSW State Parliament and is Minister for Community Services. Linda talked to us about where she is from, what she does as a Minister in the State Government and how important reading is to her, even when she gets home late from work. Linda learnt all the children’s names and answered an array of questions from the children.
Our thanks go to Linda for visiting us at Gawura.
