Gawura Presentation with Phillip Heath
St Andrew’s Cathedral School invites you to a presentation by Phillip Heath, Head of School.
- Gawura: The Whale Inside a School
- Wednesday 19 November 2008 from 6.00pm
- MC Newth Auditorium, 51 Druitt Street, Sydney NSW 2000
In September 2008, Phillip Heath presented a paper at the Australian Council for Educational Leaders. The paper, entitled New Metaphors for Leadership in Schools. Gawura: The Whale Inside a School outlined the background to the formation of Gawura and the impressive achievements of the students to date.
Support from the St Andrew’s Cathedral School community, and others who previously had no relationship with the School, has been beyond anything that we could have hoped for or imagined.
We are delighted to invite you to hear Phillip’s informative and inspirational presentation that not only celebrates the children’s success, but also acknowledges the considerable effort from students, families, staff and community to establish Gawura as a genuine and profound experience of reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.
Light refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the presentation.
Please RSVP to Jessica Otton (Events Coordinator) at jotton@sacs.nsw.edu.au or telephone to 02 9286 9500.
