Letter from Chair of School Council to the SACS Community
Dear St Andrew’s Cathedral School Community
I write to update the community on the search for a new Head of St Andrew’s Cathedral School. Korn/Ferry International, an executive recruitment agency with the expertise in education, was engaged in December 2008 by the School Council to assist in the appointment process. The position of Head of School was advertised in national and international media outlets in late January and applications have now closed. Korn/Ferry have informed the Council that they received man applications of excellent quality.
The School Council appreciates the helpful feedback it has received from parents, staff and students. This input has been very useful in helping the Council develop the criteria for selecting the new Head of School. The Section Sub-committee of the School Council and Korn/Ferry are now working through the applications and aim to produce a short list by early April. We are thankful for the strength of interest in the position and believe this to be an indication of the strong standing of our School in the Australian education community.
I will continue to keep the St Andrew’s community informed of the developments in the selection process. We are mindful of the importance of the decision and ask that you uphold the School Council in your prayers as we search for a new leader who is equipped to take the School into an exciting future.
I also wish to inform you that the School Council has asked Mr Graeme Kightley to be the interim Head of School for the period of time between the departure of Mr Heath at the end of June and the commencement of the new Head of School. We are delighted that Mr Kightley has accepted our invitation and we know that he will have the support of the St Andrew’s community.
