Why your support matters

We have a good problem. Given the success of our approach to First Nations education, there are more students progressing on the journey from Gawura School, through to Year 7, and their secondary years at St Andrew’s Cathedral School.

Our greatest need is to support these First Nations students throughout their ongoing educational journey in Secondary School. Demand for Scholarships for secondary students has risen by more than 50% over the last three years.

How you can help

Donating is a practical and immediate way to create lasting change, opening doors to opportunity, dignity, and an empowered future shaped by choice.

Every donation contributes to:

  • removing barriers to learning
  • strengthening engagement and attendance
  • supporting successful transition and education completion
  • creating long-term opportunities beyond school

Many First Nations students arrive at school already facing significant educational disadvantage, with lower household income, lower levels of parental formal education, and fewer educational resources at home. All these are barriers that can impact learning long before a child enters the classroom.

First Nations students need more than academic support to succeed. They need the wrap-around support that creates a safe and supportive learning environment.

Support our First Nations students to experience life-changing education that brings together:

  • a culturally authentic education with expert teachers, Elders, and mentors
  • early intervention and literacy and numeracy focus
  • learning and wellbeing support
  • rich cultural experiences embedded in learning
  • mentoring, career support, and a culturally enhanced curriculum.

Help us bridge the gap

We need your help to bridge the gap and ensure First Nations students have access to the lifelong opportunities that an authentic and quality education provides.
